L : Change The World

I've been very busy for this month -- April 2008. Normally I work 5 days a week but not this time. I work 7 days a week, not to mention how long I work in the weekend. But that's life. I can't hardly wait for BPPC to finish and I can have my own time again.

So, movie for this week... L : Change The World. I expected it won't be the best Death Note series and I was right. I prefer the first and second episode better. This episode didn't touch about Death Note much.

Ken'ichi Matsuyama reprises his role as L Lawliet from the previous Death Note films. The film chronicles the final 23 days of L's life, and follows L as he solves one final case. Change The World does continue the plot line established and concluded in the first two movies. Instead, L is the protagonist of this film. Shunji Fujimura also reprises his role as Watari, but, having died in The Last Name, he is killed off early in this film. Despite being depicted on the promotional poster, Misa Amane and the Death God Ryuk have very brief cameos in the film, appearing on screen for less than thirty seconds each. A video still of Light Yagami is also used in the film. The detective for the second season of the anime Near was also revealed at the end of the movie.

Roughly, the story was about virus attack and antidote. So unlike the first and second one, fighting by using the Death Note book... there were some thriller and suspense scenes which did not have in other episodes. I guess Death Note will be like Star Wars which the plot jumps forward and backward. What I don't like about this movie [some other episodes too] is they change a lot compared to Manga. Exactly happen to X-Men. To those who did not read, nothing bother much... but to those who reads it can possibly annoying.

I'd rate this movie 3 out of 5 stars. What do you think? What is your rating?

  8. Yes, I like the 1st and 2nd one the most. 3rd one was so so for me as I expected a mind-breaking solution movie, yet it was a half-thrill movie. Still I love anime-based-movie.

    Thanks for dropping by pal.

Here I find another Death Note fan. I totally agree with what you mention in the post. The live action movie has vast difference compared to the manga or anime. I think the reason why they want to do so is because they want to make the story simpler and let L be the real winner (in the anime, L really lost to Kira and died for nothing, but L's successors won Kira).

I haven't watched L 23 as I am not interested in it. Anyway it has nothing to do with the story.

  10. yeah i'd agree with you.
in manga kira is so strong and need combination like l and h [or n? forgotten =P]and h and k to defeat him.
