Now it’s Starbucks’s turn?

So, now it’s Starbucks’s turn?

This was what I read on one of my friends Facebook:

Kpd kaki lepak starbucks:Starbucks HARAM Please note that all chocolate, vanilla & coffee drinks at Coffee Bean & Starbuck contains E471 (Emulsifier 471), mono di-glycefideswhich is from animal origin (pork). Raspberry Frap uses cherries that has been dip in alcohol & tiramisu contains RUM. Plz pass this message to our muslim friends.JAKIM 03-88864000 4 more information.tq

This is what I got from the website:

Starbucks Malaysia is certified Halal by JAKIM.

For any matters pertaining to Halal, please write to halalenquiry@starbucks.com.my

Seriously, it’s pathetic and I’m so tired of this!

  25. Malays, especially, love to become God. They take sayings of Imams like they're inscribed in stone, but forget that Imams are human beings too, and are susceptible to making mistakes.

We don't have to look far. Forget Starbucks and what nots. Let us look at Tapai.

Tapai needs to be fermented for it to taste good. It undergoes the same process as beer making. After 1 day of fermentation, it contains more than 5% alcohol but will taste too sweet, and when it is about right to be eaten, contains 8%. The best tapai contains 12.3% alcohol according to studies done at the UMS School of Food Science and Nutrition.

    By comparison, Anchor Beer has 6% alcohol, Budweiser 5%, Foster's 5.1%, Guiness Draught 4%, Hoegaarden 5%, Kilarney's 5%, and Tiger has 5%.

When a friend asked a senior official from JAKIM about this, the latter said "It's okay to eat Tapai because Tapai is consumed in small amounts."

So my friend asked him back, "So you're saying it's okay for me if I only take a sip of beer and not a whole can since Tapai has more alcohol than beer?"

    He received no answer.

  26. zewt - this wrong info can make people confuse especially muslim and it will effect the business.

anonymous - is there any way to track down this bad ass?

john - yeah, some people even proudly claim that they drink Tapai's water and get drowsy. best example, a friend of mine who claimed himself as religious but wanted me to eat tapai and try the tapai's water. worse, he wanted me to try the water not because of its taste but because it can make me drowsy. yet, as you said, he will get berserk when we talk about alcoholic drinks.

now it comes to halal and haram things. i just hope that he/she will get punishment equivalent to the damage it brings to us.

    great info and comment john.
