No water supply in Penang

UV disinfection gives clean drinking water

I guess all Penangite knew about this since last week (I put the word guess because it was a surprise when one of my friends last night claimed that she does not know about this in the library LOL).

2 things I hate. No water. No electricity. Very troublesome.

But we must think of some solutions instead of keep complaining. Lucky for me that I don’t need to go to work today and finishing my assignments as the due date is just around the corner. Like one of my colleagues said

Yusma Comel Ha3x.. Demam bukan sebab tak sihat.. Tapi demam sebab last minute nya assignment. Biasa la tu bro.. Tapi orang kata last minute nya preparation is the best..( Sebab ko takkan ubah dah) kalau buat awal2 rasa banyak nor tak kena.. Sikit nak ubah.. Sikit2 nak tambah..

(copied from Facebook).

LOL.

Kinda agree with him even though it’s a bad practice (I can’t stop laughing!).

Ok, back to the topic.

Not only at home, but in the office too, people were getting ready with this matter. They kept the water in any container doesn’t matter big or small since yesterday. I know that staying home give me no difference from staying in the office but actually it’s better. Why? Our office toilets are VERY dirty! =.=”

Remember I wrote about the Dirty Toilet before? Click here in case you never read it or have forgotten Smile

I won’t go in unless I have to, but to go in there when there is no water at all? A big NO for me Smile with tongue out Eww!

So, I rather stay home and completing my assignments.

To YOU who don’t know about this news at all, read this:

GEORGE TOWN (Dec 9, 2010): Save up water this Christmas holidays as there will be a 12-hour water supply interruption on Dec 28 on most parts of the state.

Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) will shut down water supply between 7am and 7pm on that day in order to conduct major waterworks project at its main water treatment plant.

A total of 440,000 registered water consumers will not have piped water supply on that day, said PBAPP general manager Jaseni Maidinsa in a press conference to announce the water supply disruption.

"This is the first major scheduled supply interruption since 2006 and we need to carry out upgrading and maintenance work at the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant to ensure continuous good water supply in future," he said.

About 80% of the 1.6 million Penangites will be affected by the water supply shutdown, he said.

The areas affected are the whole of Seberang Perai, Bayan Baru, Bayan Lepas, Farlim, Batu Maung, George Town, Gelugor, Batu Maung, Batu Uban, Bukit Dumbar, Bukit Gambir, Bukit Gelugor, Bukit Jambul, Island Glades, Island Park, Paya Terubong, Pantai Jerejak, Relau, Permatang Damar Laut, Sungai Ara, Sungai Dua, Sungai Nibong, Taman Brown and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Two areas, Gertak Sanggul and Teluk Kumbar, will experience 24-hour water supply interruption starting from 7am on Dec 28 up till 7am on Dec 29.

Meanwhile, Teluk Bahang, Batu Ferringhi and Tanjung Bungah will not be affected as these areas' water supply came from the Guillemard Reservoir and Teluk Bahang Dam.

Consumers may call PBAPP 24-hour Call Centre at 04-5096509 for further details.

(Note: Plan to go to any river/stream but cancel as few assignments awaiting me Smile with tongue out)

  1. Yeah! But if we come to think about it...our forefathers didn't have electricity and clean water too. We should be grateful!
