sugarcane

sugarcane

A friend whose father works for the government health inspection passed on his info. Their job is to inspect all hawkers, their cooked food, their store hygiene, etc. They found sugar cane juice has the highest content of bacteria among all food. In fact, it has exceeded the set limit.

Hence, these guys had to find out why. They went round all sugar cane stores and watched the way the hawkers handled their sugar cane, wash their glasses, their entire procedure. But they couldn't find the problem.

One day, they stayed till closing time and discovered some shocking facts! Whenever, the hawkers closed their stores, they would wash the floor with detergent... As we know, the remaining sugar canes will be placed at the back of the store, vertically standing and as sugar canes are very porous, they tend to absorb whatever liquid around them.

Besides the soapy water, the dirt on hawkers' boots, cats' urine, etc, will all be absorbed?? Now, whenever I eat at a hawker centre, I would warn all my friends about this and of course I stopped drinking my favorite sugar cane juice.

A friend, who loved sugar cane juice, was pregnant. She was always drinking sugar cane juice. Anyway, one day she miscarried and the fetus was already like 6 or 7 months old, I think. When the doctors did an autopsy to find out why all of a sudden the fetus had died inside her, they found traces of some chemical substance, which was found in cat urine...

Large traces of it.

While it would not be able to harm adults, it was extremely toxic to babies, what more a fetus? So they tried to determine how this cat urine thing could have ended up in the fetus. This meant that it had to be digested by the mother, right? And the only logical conclusion they could come up with was that since these sugar cane juice stall holders just leave the canes lying around on the wet and dirty floor, it would not be impossible to think that stray cats could have peed on those sugar canes or near those sugar canes. So think carefully the next time you order that favorite sugar cane juice!

Note: I got this via email.

merdeka

I’m not going to work today for a reason you can guess, yes, I’m sick. I will try my best to stay healthy and I hate to see workload on the table which can easily cause me severe headache. But sometimes I have to just agree with others that I simply need a rest. I mean authentic rest.

Ok. Fine, I’m off today. I went to the clinic to get some prescription from the same doctor and drove back home. She worried about me. Sorry for didn’t let you know earlier as I thought it wasn’t serious. In fact, it really wasn’t serious. Despite I was sick, I didn’t want you to worry. Please accept my apology.

What I want to talk about here is about the Merdeka Day celebration (Merdeka Day is Independent Day which we celebrate every 31st of August). We pompously brag about our multiracial country without any hesitate. Yes, I’d agree with you that it is something other country could not afford.

But do you think that we as a multiracial country really amalgamated?

I seriously doubt.

There is still boundary that keeps us apart. In fact, I don’t see any good effort from the politicians that lead to our unity. Don’t you think so?

Instead of harmonize us all, they prefer to talk about themselves seeking no others but their very important position, doesn’t matter in the party or in the country. I know it is weird but truth is bitter most of the time.

Yesterday, my office went ballistic with the celebration. They stick the flags in the whole office doesn’t matter it looks good or not, simply stick them everywhere. I suppose it was an order from the director. What for? Showing the patriotism in ourselves? Do you really think by sticking the flags everywhere show how much you concern about the country more than just a plain celebration?

Put the flag on your car fully covered the whole car show how much you love Malaysia? Wear the t-shirt with a flag on it and “I love Malaysia!” written below the flag really prove that you love this country vastly? Give me a break, please.

Now, our office look likes rubbish and seriously I feel like I’m working in the rubbish bin. Not in the office anymore.

Office should provide a very cozy environment so that we can work comfortably with a clear mind. Not like this, messy and ugly.

Honestly, I don’t agree with this idea.

Thai foods

last Sunday i went to a Thai restaurant at Metro Cafe. Metro Cafe is located opposite of Northam Hotel. it’s a seafood restaurant. my friend knew about this restaurant from his colleague and was suggested as his friend told him that the foods are tasty.

after went to Island Plaza looking what Fila could offer in their sales (i wanted a blue t-shirt but then only L and XL size were available), we went there. reached there around 10pm but there were still lots of peoples. unfortunately, the place was wet after raining as we could sit somewhere near to the sea while enjoying the foods!

since it was wet, we chose somewhere under the roof to sit. then the waiter was fast enough to take order. lucky for us as we were so hungry.

these are what we ordered:

230820093992

the restaurant’s name

230820093989

the mix grilled hot pan

230820093990

spicy clam

230820093987

veggie Thai’s style

230820093988

Thai’s soup

230820093991

ambra asam boi

overall, the foods were so so and a bit pricey.

note: it was good to eat with someone :)

meet axim

I know it is suppose to be an old post. Blame me for posting the ones I’ve written long time ago first instead of the recent one. The best reason I could give is busy. I know it sounds so lame. But at least I don’t lie. I do study Management in USM, learning Mandarin on my own, actively playing badminton at least 4 times a week and table tennis once a week, hang out with my love one and finishing my books in that ugly dusty shelve. I’m not complaining of course! :) in fact I try to squeeze time if possible to learn piano. Something that my parent couldn’t afford when I was small. I want to do it anyway. At least before I die? :)

I cut the intro short.

I met Axim weeks ago. It happen that he SMS me asking for lunch but at that time I already promised Keith to eat together. I asked him if he doesn’t mind, he could join us for lunch. He said ok and will drive from his office to somewhere close to my office to eat the famous Mee Sotong (cuttlefish noodle).

Keith likes the noodle so much and it was the third time he drove to town from Bayan Lepas just to eat that famous noodle. I suppose, it’s a worth drive :)

I had plan to meet Axim for so long, at least a year or so. But this fellow seem busy almost 24 hours a day. Or he just try to avoid meeting infamous blogger like me? Haha.

He was friendly and chatty. Very simple guy and down to earth. Very easy going to be friend with. You will feel like knowing him for ages even though it is your first time meeting him! Trust me.

So our conversation was about work, bloggers, blog, vacation and his cute humongous camera. I didn’t dare to touch :P

Now, let me share some pictures that he took on that day. Guess some of you already seen it at his blog.

broken hearted woman

I think I prefer Faye Wong version more than the original and the English version. To those who don’t speak Chinese and want to know the translation, please click on the English version. If you skeptical to know how good the original version too, kindly click on the link given.

There’s nothing related to my current situation, just that I find this song is lovely. Whole song. I even sang (only the rhythm) in the shower.

Enjoy ya!

my love

squirrel

I can't believe how long its taken,
Or how we got here.
I've loved you since forever,
Yet only for a year.

I want our lips to touch,
And our hands to hold.
I want to feel your body,
Comfort me when i am cold.

I want to kiss in public,
And not to be afraid.
I want to live together,
In a home that we have made.

In the morning when we wake,
I want to see you smile.
Tell me that you love me,
And that its all worth while.

I don't want empty words,
Or you to tell me lies.
I might seem vulnerable,
But deep down i am wise.

My only dream i wish,
Is that someday it shall come true.
That you will love me,
As much as i love you.

giving up wine

I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner.

I took out my wallet, got out ten dollars and asked, 'If I give you this money, will you buy wine with it instead of dinner?'
'No, I had to stop drinking years ago', the homeless woman told me.

'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked.
'No, I don't waste time shopping,' the homeless woman said. 'I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.'

'Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked.
'Are you NUTS!' replied the homeless woman. I haven't had my hair done in 20 years!'

'Well, I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, I'm going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.'
The homeless Woman was shocked. 'Won't your husband be furious with you for doing that? I know I'm dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting.'

I said, 'That's okay. It's important for him to see what a woman looks like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and wine.'

claim

I wonder why some peoples are so desperate with their claim. It’s like without claim they have no saving or money to be spent anymore. The complaints usually involved no money to pay for kid’s need such as school and clothes, out of budget to pay the debt such as car and house not to forget the house expenditure and some even claim they have zero balance in the bank and depend on claim money to survive.

Guys,

How do you plan actually?

It’s weird as you know, to be financial freedom you must at least save 3 months of your salary in the bank in case anything emergency happen. Not that couple of hundreds of your ugly claim can solve your financial problem.

I hate when people keep pushing me to check and submit their claim fast as I have to check it properly or else if there is a single mistake, it will drag me to hell. Why I said hell? First, I don’t want to collaborate with you if there is any lie. No white lie ever exist ok? Second, the Branch Director is a perfectionist and always want zero mistake in finance team. Stop being ridiculous and asking me day and night about your fucking claim ok? It’s not that I only spend my 9 hours quality time checking yours only. First, go find out how many people we have in our branch (don’t forget this include the MTT building). Second, find out how many people went to courses, exam, awards and auditing. You can say that it’s my job. Smart. If you know, then shut the fuck up ok?

Those who act like brainy that always bring up General Order and circular issue, please make sure you bring your fact right in order to fight against your query. Ok? It doesn’t matter if you win or I win, but it’s the matter of the correct fact. Remember, if you are not entitle for a single cent, then you are NOT. Go and bring the issue to the Branch Director or even the State Director. We work based on rule and regulation, sometimes you have to be obedience instead of being a smart ass fighting others with your own assumption worse shouting with ridiculous reason. Officer, shouting. Show how shallow your brain and how cheap you are. Uneducated to be precise.

I’m not a good-temper kind of guy. But lately I learn how to control my temper. For now, the best way to deal with these morons are to laugh sarcastically whenever they shout and ask stupid questions like “When do you think I will get my cheque?”. Babe, it’s not me who print out your cheque. Plus, who are you to ask so? At the moment I’m using my best weapon. My reverse psychology weapon. Laugh. I know it’s the best medicine, but for this case it can be a heartache.

Note: Colleagues, if you’re reading this please pass around the ‘message’ to others. Stop asking.

death

Do you still remember I’ve posted something about death here. Yes, it was his mother. But just now, I got call and SMS from colleagues – Rizal, Kak Zila, Linda and Firdaus that his father (who got diabetes badly) passed away. Not as shock as last time with his mother since he told me that his father was sick. Still it was unexpected to hear this news.

I replied them with a question whether they want to visit him tonight or tomorrow morning. Most of them don’t know where is his place located even though we have been there once. It’s in Tokkun and for those who knows where it is, surely know how to difficult to find it especially to those who is not good in direction, worse at night.

I know this will be a hard time for him to accept this since we are going to fast starting this Saturday and I believe they have some little preparation for the Eid too.

But everything is fated. Written since the beginning.

Every time there are death, my heart pumps hard and fast. Worrying about how to cope with the situation if this happen to my family and my lover. I can’t live without them. You, too.

Al-Fatihah to his father.

wo xiang chi ni

110820093950

She kissed my neck. That really gave me a real goose bump. I looked at her and smile.

“Oh! Page 117” she uttered softly to my ear referring to the book that I was reading for the whole day – Twilight.

I kissed her on her lips. A sweet one. It was sweet enough to make her smile and close her eyes tight.

“Are you alright?” I asked her to make sure everything is ok while pinching softly her cute blushed cheek. After few years with Biotherm and Clarin I suppose. They really gave her great skin. Smooth and silky. Shiny and always look healthy. I always brag about it to myself. Why not?

“I’m pretty bored sweetheart; can we go to the mall? I heard they have great sales. Window shopping is good too” she asked me persuasively.

“Ok, let’s go!” I said to her and lifted her up to the shower. Since I know Kath, we never shower alone. I’ll be missing her even a few minutes she vanishes from my eyes. It’s true. Very true.

We took a quick shower and got ready with t-shirt and shorts. Wore the sandals and out of the house. She ran to water the plant while I started to start the engine. Yes, she loved her plants so much. Nature lover I’d say. I’m not a good gardener but I want to grow the plants together with her as much as I want to grow old with her. Forever. That’s my promise.

In the car, she kept talking to me in Mandarin which I didn’t understand a word. I lied, I knew few words. Very basic words as I took Mandarin class before. That was ages. She tried to teach me and I tried to catch up some new words as possible.

“Ni xiang chi shen me?” she asked.

I answered “Wo xiang chi ni”. We both laughed our lungs out.

It’s good for my future and I want to make her happy at the same time. I guess it’s good because I can speak in Mandarin when I meet her parent or sibling and definitely will make them impress. They will like me as a bonus. I want that. As much as my family can accept her, I want her family to accept me too. I want to prove to them that I can make her happy and live with her forever. I must.

“Do you think you can learn it fast?” she asked.

Before I could even say a word she replied “Suppose”.

And we laughed. That’s my favorite word. She knew I’d answer that way. She even felt annoyed sometimes with that word.

Now, actually I got a good book for learning Mandarin. I made a photostat copy from a book that I borrowed from my colleague.

For you, I will learn whatever you want. Whatever that could make you happy. I love you.

inspired to change

book1

The parable of the eaglet who got mixed up with a brood of chicks brought up by a mother hen is not fiction. Becoming a flying predator of the falcon-family capable of conquering the skies is not meant to be for the eaglet who accidentally mixes with the ‘wrong’ company. The eaglet is never thought to fly and thus continues pecking on the ground all its life thinking that it was a chicken.

This is the best quote in the book for me. Thank you to Joseph for lending this book to me as he knows I love property investment a lot.

This book is very good to encourage you to take calculated risk in property investment and roughly how to be success in this business.

In term of strategy and knowledge in theory I prefer Azizi Ali’s book. You can seek for books by Azizi Ali that I’ve read here.

Nothing much to share about property investment for this post as most of the methods and important points have been written in my earlier post.

Good book to keep your spirit high.

Note: Currently reading Twilight.

used vs loved

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4-yr old son picked up a stone and scratched lines on the side of the car. In anger, the man took the child's hand and hit it many times; not  realizing he was using a wrench.

At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw his father.....with painful eyes he asked, 'Dad when will my fingers grow back?'

The man was so hurt and speechless; he went back to his car and  kicked it a lot of times.  Devastated by his own actions....sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches the child had written ,  'LOVE YOU DAD'. The next day, that man committed suicide. . .

Anger and Love have no limits; choose the latter to have a beautiful, lovely life..... Things are to be used and people are to be loved. But, the problem in today's world is that, People are used and things are loved... During this year, let's be careful to keep this thought in mind:

Things are to be used, but People are to be loved ... Be yourself..This is the only day we HAVE.

everything happen for a reason

raining

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant
to be there...to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure
out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these
people may be but you lock eyes with them, you know that very moment
that they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible,
painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without
overcoming those obstacles you would never realize your potential,
strength, will power or heart.

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means
of luck. Illness, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer
stupidity all occur to test limits of your soul.

Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere
safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet affect your life. The successes and downfalls that you
experience can create whom you are, and the bad experiences can be
learned from. In fact they are probably the most poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them because
they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of
being cautious to whom you open your heart.

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you,
but also because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to
little things. Make every day count. Appreciate everything that you possibly
can, for you may never experience it again.

Talk to people whom you have never talked to before, and actually listen.
Let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high.
Hold you head up because you have every right to.

Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you
don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you.
Create you own life and then go out and live it.

travel tips

DSC01381 3 stooges!

i just done dinner (ok, i know some might called it supper) – lamb chop, watermelon juice and ice lemon tea. ignore the 2 drinks ok? :) kinda dehydrated. i always have this problem whenever i travel. it shows on my skin too. it will become so dry and haggard. eww… i even hate looking at it in the mirror (i have skin problem (pimples) lately which i prefer to ignore rather than keep looking at it and put myself into a great depress).

now i’m in muar. i don’t feel like put any pictures for this trip. if you wanna see them, kindly click here. still the same foods and environment :) but it’s relaxing. oh ya, mind the way i’m writing now too. no capital letter, i know ;)

when i was in the shower room, i got this idea about writing some travel tips. i know some of you already know about it but i still choose to share because i know i might help some others :)

first, whenever you travel, do not fold your shirt. it will give you lines on your shirt if you fold it. what you need to do is roll them :) instead of avoid the lines, it also give much space for your luggage.

second, do you have problem whenever you use hot shower and your mirror steam up? it’s easy to avoid this thing happen. put some soap on the mirror. trust me, your mirror won’t steam up anymore :)

ok, that’s all i want to share with you :)

see ya!

Tamparuli Bridge (Tuaran, Sabah)

Tamparuli is a small town and a sub-district of Tuaran on the west coast of Sabah, Malaysia. It is populated mainly by native Dusuns, while ...
