Cell phone is dangerous!

GEORGE TOWN: Handphones can be more damaging to health than smoking, the Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) said.

CAP president SM Mohamed Idris said research by award-winning neurosurgeon Professor Dr Vini Gautam Khurana from the United States had indicated that using mobile phones for more than 10 years could double the risk of brain cancer.

Prof Khurana, who has received 14 awards over the past 16 years and has published more than three dozen scientific papers, had conducted a 15-month "critical review" of the link between mobile phones and malignant brain tumours.

The subject in the study were heavy mobile phone users who had relied on handphones for at least 10 years. "Previous studies which found no evidence of a link between mobile use and an increased risk of cancer often did not include enough long-term mobile phone users in their study samples," Mohamed Idris said.

Prof Khurana found that cancer takes at least a decade to develop.

"The incidence of malignant brain tumours and associated death rate will be observed to rise globally within a decade from now, by which time it may be far too late to intervene medically," Prof Khurana said in his report.

Prof Khurana said smoking kills some five million people worldwide each year, but three billion people now use mobile phones worldwide and the number is growing daily.

Mohamed Idris said children who used mobile phones were at greater risk because they were more susceptible to the radiation than adults.

"Parents should not allow their children to use mobile phones and consumers should use the speakerphone function, so that the phone is held more than 20cm away from the head. Use landlines whenever possible," he said.

CAP also urged the Government to take appropriate measures to address the fact that mobile phones could represent a public health time bomb.

"Government should use the mass media and run campaigns to educate and warn the public of the dangers of radiation exposure from mobile phones," Mohamed Idris said.

Prof Khurana has posted the results of his findings on www.brain-surgery.us and his research paper is currently being peer-reviewed for publication in a scientific journal.

Do not sleep late!

Good rest and sound sleep is very
Important... if u don't sleep well,
The toxic in your body will accumulate..
Affecting your health and your mood...

The main causes of liver damage are:
1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are the main cause.
2. Not urinating in the morning.
3. Too much eating.
4. Skipping breakfast.
5. Consuming too much medication.
6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
8. Consuming overly done foods also add to the burden of liver. Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.

We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our body to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to 'schedule.'

Because: Evening at 9 - 11pm : is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic chemicals (de-toxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on her health.

Evening at 11pm - 1am : The de-toxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state. Early morning 1 - 3am : de-toxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 3 - 5am : de-toxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the de-toxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.
Morning 5 - 7am : de-toxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 - 9am : Absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 -10am rather than no meal at all. Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood.

Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.

How to set your web browser as default?

Okay guess many people know about this but still I want to share :) No harm right? I had a problem with Yahoo Messenger actually. I set Mozilla as my default browser but every time I clicked on Yahoo Messenger link (the message/notice people usually put next to their nickname) it will open Internet Explorer (IE) browser.

So I did this :

  1. Go to control panel
  2. Click on Add or Remove Programs
  3. Add/remove Windows Component
  4. Then untick IE

Still there was no different. Then I did this :

  1. Click the start menu
  2. Click on Set Program Access and Defaults
  3. Choose Custom
  4. Click the arrow down
  5. Look for “Choose a default web browser” and select Mozilla Firefox
  6. Click OK

You are done! :)

Please pray for her :(

I guess some blogger know her and even if you don't please pray for love-n-hate to get well soon. She is in the hospital now after met with an accident last night. I was shock and speechless when she told me about it. Actually the day before she told me that she did not want to go because she was so tired physically and mentally and needed rest. I told her to say NO for the birthday party invitation but she felt guilty if she simply say NO to her friend. Sigh. She did not drive last night but her friend. I really hope she will get well soon... Lets pray!

The last picture I got from her before the accident

She called me just now and told me there is nothing serious or bad injury. I'm sad :(

Course : Better Spoken English

The course started from 16th-20th June 2008 and held at Bayview Hotel. It was an English course which you learn everything from the beginning. It was fun but since they did not want to come at night, the course have been squeezed for daytime only. It was full of assignments :) but still it was fun.

My name tag

Erk, auntie please stop talking on the phone!

There is nothing much I want to say about the English course since you learn everything like you were in primary school :P Alright, lets talk about something I know attracts many bloggers. Who does not loves food? I doubt. The foods there were just ok. If you read my post before about food at Bayview you will have some ideas about it. But for the whole week it was not Revolving but the one on the ground floor. Still not much different from Revolving. The last night there the management collected RM10 each person (because my company paid for the ground floor price only) for Revolving since many of them never been at Revolving Restaurant. I did not mind... I joined.

Ground floor foods. I did not eat much

Ground floor breakfast

Ground floor dessert. Love the french pie!

Do not ask me why many desserts! :P

Me at Revolving Restaurant

Colleague. Why only him? He was punctual ;)

An hour after... some other colleagues

The band that only stayed there until 8pm? Argh!

Some foods I ate, I know I ate a lots more :P

Best part! Ice cream

I made this when I was thinking of someone ;)

Bayview Hotel is a 4 stars hotel but to put it as a "clean hotel", I won't. Why? Alright the room was clean but the thing that spoil it's cleanliness was the cockroach! I wondered why there was cockroach in my room! I thought it was only in my room but others as well. It was disgusting and I hope the hotel management take initiative about this.

Cute little creature :(

I love the swimming pool there. Forgotten to bring my swimming trunk along I simply wore my short. Lucky the guard was not strict. The depth of the pool was 3.5 meters! Yes, to those who does not know how to swim. You better do not swim there! It has shallow side too which was about 1.2 meters. Another side of the pool it has a jacuzzi :) While I was busy swimming a white man said "hi" to me and he was from Australia. He asked me how do I rate this hotel. I simply replied "It is so so... there are many others that are better than this one". I was pissed off by the cockroach of course!

What a gay pose? Lol.

I like my room's view (regardless my room was bigger than others! haha! lucky me!). Facing the main road did not bother me much since the road was not so busy at night and during the day time I was in the course. I could see sea! Mmm... a peace of mind.

The view during the day time

Dawn :) Mmm...

Enough space?

Mmm love the tub even though it was not big enough for me :P

Before hot tub bath :P

The bed for me alone ;)

I did not bring a lot

So guys... you have an idea now why I did not update my blog for so long? Plus, I just finished repairing my laptop (formatting and installing drivers, actually with a lot of helps from my 2 friends who are expertise).

It was so hard to search drivers on internet including the official website of HP. I'm using Compaq Presario. Till later... ;)

Salty Coffee

He met her on a party. She was so outstanding, many guys chasing after her, while he was so normal, nobody paid attention to him. At the end of the party, he invited her to have coffee with him, she was surprised, but due to being polite, she promised. They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything, she felt uncomfortable, she thought, please, let me go home.. Suddenly he asked the waiter:

"Would you please give me some salt? I'd like to put it in my coffee."

Everybody stared at him, so strange! His face turned red, but, still, he put the salt in his coffee and drank it.

She asked him curiously: why you have this hobby?

He replied: "when I was a little boy, I was living near the sea, I liked playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown, I miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there".

While saying that tears filled his eyes. She was deeply touched.

That's his true feeling, from the bottom of his heart. A man who can tell out his homesickness, he must be a man who loves home, cares about home, has responsibility of home.. Then she also started to speak, spoke about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family.

That was a really nice talk, also a beautiful beginning of their story. They continued to date. She found that actually he was a man who meets all her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm, careful. He was such a good person but she almost missed him!

Thanks to his salty coffee! Then the story was just like every beautiful love story, the princess married to the prince, then they were living the happy life... And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee, as she knew that's the way he liked it.

After 40 years, he passed away, left her a letter which said: "My dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole life lie. This was the only lie I said to you---the salty coffee. Remember the first time we dated? I was so nervous at that time, actually I wanted some sugar, but I said salt It was hard for me to change so I just went ahead.

I never thought that could be the start of our communication! I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I have promised not to lie to you for anything..

Now I'm dying, I afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth: I don't like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste.. But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life! Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for anything I do for you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life. If I can live for the second time, still want to know you and have you for my whole life, even though I have to drink the salty coffee again".

Her tears made the letter totally wet.

Someday, someone asked her: what's the taste of salty coffee? It's sweet. She replied.

The Law of The Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined our car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.

As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so.....

'Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.'

Tarzan : Bulletproof Man

This is the hottest news in Indonesia. A bulletproof man!

To those who don't understand Malay or Indonesia, this news is about a man who can't be hurt or killed by any weapons including guns! He is called Tarzan by Indonesian and has killed a policeman who came with another guy to ask for the debt -- 2 millions. He stabbed the policeman with a dagger on the head until the victim died.

The video shows how police tried to kill him but the bullet just couldn't hurt him until a woman told police to break the ring that he wore into pieces. The sniper shot the ring on his finger and then the next shot killed him. Amazing.

Car Wash

Alright. Today I'm a bit free. No overtime and no business meeting. So, I went to car wash. Do not ask me why I don't wash myself, suppose you already have the answer. Or should I say I hate wasting water? :P

Around 4pm went out to car wash at Relau. Glad that mom and sister want to come along so I won't be so bored. I used to go to the car wash with machine just because I hate waiting. But sadly the one in Sungai Dua closed and I have no other solution but to go to the one that using hands. When I reached Relau, I realize that I haven't bought any snacks and drinks for waiting later. So, I went to the petrol station nearby and instead of buying some snacks and drinks I put petrol and pumped my tyres. Alright, the petrol was RM75 because still got some petrol before I filled in. That was not surprise with the oil price increment. But I was shock when I paid for the snacks and drinks. 4 drinks (2 coffees, 1 chrysanthemum tea, 1 ribena) and 2 chips cost me RM13. Can you imagine how expensive the foods now? Gosh!

I drove straight to the car wash. It was just opposite the petrol station. There were few Indian workers. I talked to one of them:

Me : Hello
Guy : Hello
Me : I want to wash and vacuum. How much and how long I have to wait?
Guy : Do you want to clean your engine too?
Me : No
Guy : RM10 and there are 5 cars queuing
Me : 5? How long I have to wait?
Guy : About 2 hours before your turn
Me : Alright then, guess I do not have choice

Waited under a tree with mom and sister enjoying our snacks and drinks. Even though we hide in the tree shade, trust me it was so hot! How I wish we have 4 seasons :P

Out of my expectation, it was faster than he told me. Thanks GOD! Last time when I went there, they washed first then vacuumed. This time they vacuumed first then washed. Whatever... as long as my car is clean I do not mind.

Bubble wash! My "baby" was so happy ;)

I thought it was a rubbish bin?

Mmm... clean :)

Do you wash your car yourself? If not, do you go to the car wash with machine or just bare hands?

Euro 2008

This year after soccer fan enjoyed the Barclay Premier League and UEFA Champions League, we have another big game -- Euro 2008. I know some soccer fans out there who have followed my blog for quite sometimes know that I love Manchester United, Brazil and Portugal. Some might simply accuse me for following Christiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro wherever he goes. You are wrong! I like Portugal since Nuno Gomes and Figo and if you know soccer well, at that time Ronaldo was not even in the squad yet. He was popular right after joining Manchester United, which I support Manchester United since Eric Cantona. So now ring a bell that I do not simply follow him wherever he goes? He is good, yes. Very talented and yes I like the way he dribble and netting goal. About many rumors cursing him as gay, I do not give a shit. His life, his problem. But as a soccer player, we should be proud to have him in the soccer arena. To have him in Manchester United and Portugal really is a bonus. Remember, he scored many goals this season and even won golden boot for BPL and UCL. What a player!

Alright, enough explanation about why I choose Portugal. So, stop cursing me!

Euro 2008 has been one of the best tournaments ever for Euro competition. It's hard to predict who will win the cup and who will walk home with empty hand. Too early to say anything as the ball is round and the competition has just begun. ESPN's favorite Holland and Germany might be right to be in the final as they played well for previous game but poor thing Germany lose to Croatia last night. Holland played well in all their games with many goals. They even won 4-1 over another giant -- France. I expected Holland will win big over France by 3-1, I was wrong. Love to see Robben in Holland as he was fast and good dribbling skill!

So, Portugal will face Germany if they manage to win the next game (yes I expected Germany to win!). This is a heart thumping moment of course as I can see Portugal is really missing Figo in the team. I hope Portugal can make a miracle by beating Germany. Lets pray!

For the team I predict will win Euro 2008 is Holland even though I never lose faith on Portugal based on Holland's performance beating two giants -- Italy and France. Go Portugal Go!

Oil price

It might be late for me to talk about oil price since this issue has been discussed in newspapers, television and some other media. I was busy these few days, studied for BITK exam (this exam is for those who get RM40 allowance working in finance section -- if you pass this you will get RM40 extra, yes I know it is peanut but no one give you money for nothing ok?) which the exam was yesterday. It was very hard. Yes, no one will give you RM40 for free... remember?

At first I got a sms about the oil price will increase in August. Then I got another sms telling me that the oil price will be increase on Thursday June 5 2008. This was the worst oil price increment ever in Malaysia's history. Why?

1. The increment was announced without warning within 24 hours.
2. It is 40% increment worse than before -- which the price now is RM2.70 per liter (78 cents increment from the old price)

Ok I got some informations through newspapers, television, radio and also blogs. There are some blogs that catch my attention. They are Tun Dr Mahathir, Zaharuddin, Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo and Patrick Teoh.

I love this fact by Tun Dr Mahathir :

Can the Government subsidise? I am the “adviser” to Petronas but I know very little about it beyond what is published in its accounts. What I do know may not be very accurate but should be sufficient for me to draw certain conclusions.

Roughly Malaysia produces 650,000 barrels of crude per day. We consume 400,000 barrels leaving 250,000 barrels to be exported.

Three years ago the selling price of crude was about USD30 per barrel. Today it is USD130 – an increase of USD100. There is hardly any increase in the production cost so that the extra USD100 can be considered as pure profit.

Our 250,000 barrels of export should earn us 250,000 x 100 x 365 x 3 = RM27,375,000,000 (twenty seven billion Ringgit).

But Petronas made a profit of well over RM70 billion, all of which belong to the Government.

By all accounts the Government is flushed with money.

There are polls on Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo's blog :

Pada Pandangan Anda, Siapakah Calon Terbaik Mengganti Pak Lah Suatu Hari Nanti

Adakah kepimpinan tertinggi UMNO perlu ditukar?

Cool isn't it? As I promised to some bloggers I will try to write in proper manner which I will be neutral -- not bashing any side even though I know it's so hard since everybody knows what is going on. There are some actions that can be taken :

1. Boycott - Some of us might think this is the best way to stop the oil price. But is it possible? For how long? Boycott is not the best solution in my mind in fact in your mind too. After all our home is far away from the workplace and we need vehicle from one place to another.

2. Public transportation - It is easy for those single male or female to use public transport. But what about those who has family? Public transport not quite suitable for them. The public transport like bus never punctual which make the whole family have to wake up so early in the morning for work and school. Talking about LRT (to make it simpler it's a train), not all places in Malaysia have LRT in fact not all states have this facilities. So, to say public transportation is the best choice -- I don't think so.

3. Buy motorcycle - Some of my friends even suggested to buy a motorcycle. How relevant? Again, back to number 2 it is not suitable for people who has family. Yes, it is a great advantage if you are not married. You should use motorcycle instead of car. You can save a lot of money even though it is more risky than a car.

4. Buy bicycle - This suggestion goes to people who live near to his workplace. This is the best vehicle ever since it is environmental friendly and never use petrol. But how many peoples that are so lucky to live so close to their workplace? I bet you can count by fingers.

Since all above are not suitable (at least for me who go to work with mom and sister), I guess I have to use car and still spending money for petrol.

What we expect from government?

1. Increase salary - Since the cost of living increase, I guess it's time for government to increase the salary as well. Not only in government sector but also private sector. If you compare to other countries, their salary are higher compared to us. So, with this oil price increment I expect items price like groceries will be affected. If the salary remains the same big inflation problem is going to occur.

2. Financial Education - Some of us still struggling in maintaining their finance. Most of Malaysians are lack of financial knowledge which is going bad each year. When thing like this happen, to those who live with enough food to eat and enough food to live based on their salary will suffer the most. They need to learn how to do budget and try to save more. But how possible if the salary remain the same? Back to number 1. This number 2 only can be implemented if government increase the salary at the first place.

3. Maintain groceries price - Government should take initiative to maintain the groceries price. Most shops and malls will increase the price due to transportation charges involved. Yes, it is again about the petrol. Malaysians are suffering badly from the oil price and to live with everything expensive really a hard thing to accept. The price might be a little expensive than before but not as high up as a mountain.

Government should make some efforts to calm us, Malaysian. With ideologies from some parties which is positive and relevant, it might bring chaos to the country such as demonstrations and worse a riot. We do not want to see this kind of incident happen in Malaysia. As far as I can see, no strategy and positive action has been taken yet. We have so many brilliant and extraordinary ministers and I believe they can think of something. Some peoples say "Change your lifestyle..."

video

Honestly, I miss my old Malaysia and hope everything just back to normal. Amin...

8 Million Clicks Needed

Thanks to Rozella for passing this tag to me. I could not find a better title for this post, so I just copied it from her.

You can help the lives of many women by spreading the word about The Breast Cancer Site and by clicking the image above as many times as you can. If The Breast Cancer Site receives 8 million clicks on the pink button in June, their premier sponsor -Bare Necessities- will donate $10,000 for more free mammograms.

Ok, that is for the ads.

Maybe some of us do not care much about this disease called cancer. What is cancer?

Cancer is a class of diseases in which a group of cells display the traits of uncontrolled growth (growth and division beyond the normal limits), invasion (intrusion on and destruction of adjacent tissues), and sometimes metastasis (spread to other locations in the body via lymph or blood). These three malignant properties of cancers differentiate them from benign tumors, which are self-limited, do not invade or metastasize. Most cancers form a tumor but some, like leukemia, do not.

Cancer may affect people at all ages, even fetuses, but risk for the more common varieties tends to increase with age. Cancer causes about 13% of all deaths. According to the American Cancer Society, 7.6 million people died from cancer in the world during 2007. Cancers can affect other animals besides humans, and plants, too.

For more info click here. I won't write about the whole definition here as you can easily googling around. Since I want to share information with you, I will also put some pictures as below :

When normal cells are damaged beyond repair, they are eliminated by apoptosis (A). Cancer cells avoid apoptosis and continue to multiply in an unregulated manner (B).

Scary isn't it? So, lets help others who suffer from cancer. Be grateful that we are the lucky peoples who are safe from it. Even many doctors died caused by cancer.

Remember, always do checking if there is any symptom. Never too late!
